GLASS at the Fitzroy Pinnacle

GLASS is a trio from Melbourne/Naarm Australia.

Before 80’s, and maybe even a little of that early 90’s jangle had been sewn firmly to his sleeve, brainchild Andrew had been wading the murky waters of his slow burning and smudged darkwave project Angel Eyes, as well the more experimental forays into electronic music with Match Fixer.

A few years back, in a moment of clarity he grabbed his acoustic guitar, dusty drum machine, cassette and 4 track and in a few clear eyed hours recorded five tracks, channeling a certain type of jangle that proved to be the catalyst for the GLASS sound.

That certain type of jangle that Liar’s Dice now play echo many of their antipodean forebears, the ‘Last Song’ for example finds that airy and slightly romantic pocket The Go-betweens would often inhabit, or ‘Parking Inspector’ with its Church-like dreamy guitar and bass interplay, while the driving ‘It’s your script’ harks back to some of the uptempo but pensive atmospheres of English group Echo and the Bunnymen.

Like many current artists from Eternal Dust , Reds Pinks and Purples to Drab Majesty, GLASS, while acknowledging these familiar past forms, have been able to transmit them via their own locked-in station.
